Playing Manmohan Singh has been the most difficult role of my career: Anupam Kher

The 63-year-old actor is still filming for 'The Accidental Prime Minister'

MUMBAI: Bollywood veteran Anupam Kher, whose career has spanned over three decades and 500 films, says playing the role of former Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh has been the most difficult one in his career.

On April 24, Kher addressed the media during Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan Awards 2018 held in Mumbai.

When asked whether he has completed shooting The Accidental Prime Minister, Kher said: "No. Only 40% of the film has been completed. I have studied the character of Singh for four months and it is the most difficult role that I have played. I hope the audience sees his journey on screen really soon."

A video of Kher during one of the days of filming garnered a lot of appreciation. Viewers lauded how the actor tried to mould his walk and demeanour to match Singh's distinct style.

At the awards ceremony, Kher received a special honour for his contribution to Indian theatre and cinema. Upon returning from England, the actor went directly to the venue to attend the ceremony.

Kher dedicated his award to youngsters from rural parts of India. "Whenever I receive an award for my work, it motivates me to do better. I always say that it s not my lifetime achievement award because I feel like I have started my career just now," shared the 63-year-old actor.

Speaking to youngster at the award show, the Khosla Ka Ghosla! actor explained "If a boy like me who was son of clerk from forest department of Shimla can receive this award, then you can also achieve many things in your life."
