Tax exemption: Bajaur residents threaten to protest

Fata student forum has announced to stage protests against Political Administration for not implementing directives

SHABQADAR: Despite promises made by the governor to exempt residents of tribal areas from paying taxes, students in Bajaur have announced to launch a protest over the non-implementation of those promises.

The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) student forum has announced to stage protests against the Bajaur Political Administration for not implementing the directives.

In a news conference in the Bajaur Agency, Fata Student Forum Chairman Farhad Ali and others said that last week Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jaghra in a meeting at the Governor House had announced to abolish taxes on food items and construction material in the tribal areas.

However, the students claimed, that the political administration had refused to implement the governor’s orders,

He urged the governor to take action to implement his order, otherwise, the Fata student forum will start a protest campaign against the political administration in Bajaur and outside the Governor House in Peshawar.
