RAWALPINDI: To promote book reading habits amongst visitors, a modern, e-library has been set up at the Nawaz Sharif Park in Rawalpindi.

To highlight it, the library’s administration will be organising a seminar to mark the World Book Day and Copyright Day on Monday.

E-Library Chief Librarian Sher Afzal Malik said that the world book day seminar would be conducted at the library and it is expected that Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Sarwat Naz Miraz is expected to attend along with Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Associate Professor Dr Pervaiz Ahmed.

Malik said that that the Punjab government, in an effort to promote reading and research-based activities for the public, has started opening e-libraries in different cities of the province.

He further said that the library has been equipped with 30 laptops and five touch-screen tablets to facilitate visitors of all age groups, particularly students. He added that the e-Library will have a comprehensive database comprising thousands of authentic books including 10,000 e-books, magazines and publications.

These libraries, Malik said, were designed to attract readers and make the delivery of data and knowledge more convenient.
