ISLAMABAD: After officials discovered a distillery in a slum of the capital, they managed to recover a large cache of liquor on Friday. At least two suspects were also held. Police said that they had raided what they believed was the den of notorious bootlegger Malik Yasir in the Meera Baadi area, within the remits of the Golra police station. However, they soon realised that they had stumbled on a much bigger find when they found a bunch of equipment used for distilling moonshine. The police team said that they had recovered 160 litres of alcohol, 1,710 liquor bottles, corks and other material used in the manufacturing and packaging process. Two suspects, who were apprehended from the site, were promptly booked. The suspects were identified as Muhammad Tanveer and Mohsin Javed. SSP Islamabad Najeeb ur Rehman Bugvi has appreciated this performance and directed all police officials for effective policing measures in their respective areas. The raid was part of an ongoing crackdown in the capital against bootlegging.
