Energy technology grads national asset, says minister

Leghari says USPCAS-E will help in providing sustainable energy solutions

Institutions like US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E) at National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) can help in developing sustainable and renewable energy solutions for the country, said Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division) Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari.

“You are a highly valuable addition to Pakistan’s energy sector,” he said addressing the 94 graduates of Ms Energy Engineering of USPCAS-E at the first convocation of the centre on Wednesday.

US Ambassador David Hale commended the students for their hard work and encouraged them to apply their expertise gained at NUST USPCAS-E to tackle Pakistan’s most vexing energy challenges.

Earlier, NUST Rector Lt Gen (retd) Naweed Zaman, HI, (M), (Retd), Rector NUST, welcomed the guests and extended his felicitations to the graduates, their parents and faculty. He hoped that USPCAS-E will continue to set high standards in teaching and research in the energy sector to help resolve energy woes of Pakistan.

The USAID-supported USPCAS-E programme is a partnership between Arizona State University and Oregon State University and NUST and University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar.
