Memon and several others are behind bars in a Rs5.76 billion corruption case.
During Wednesday's proceedings, Memon's lawyer, Advocate Khalid Javed, requested the SHC to grant bail to his client on medical grounds, to which the court asked whether there was any precedent that an accused was granted bail due to medical reasons. The lawyer said he would inform the court regarding such precedents at the next hearing.

The lawyer informed the SHC that his client was suffering from severe backaches and a medical board had advised him to seek treatment abroad.
The SHC asked the lawyer to present arguments supporting granting bail to Memon on medical grounds on the next hearing fixed for April 26.
Meanwhile, Mehmood Alam, the lawyer of another suspect Syed Masood Hashmi, argued that the prosecution had maintained that his client was innocent in the case as no illegal booking was done by his company. The lawyer added that Hashmi was willing to deposit Rs75 million as bail.
