News of eight-year-old Asifa Bano's rape has taken India by storm. The girl had gone missing in early January 2018 and was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Hiranagar tehsil of Hindu-dominated Kathua district, initial reports suggested.

While the case is still undergoing, Indian celebrities such as Sania Mirza, have come forth to express their disgust over the incident. However, one Twitter user slammed Sania for being a "non-Indian".

Sania initially tweeted:

She also prayed that justice be brought to the little girl.

Twitter user Kichu Kannan Namo, who describes himself as a nationalist and a social media coordinator for Indian political party BJP, replied:

Sania was quick to snap back to Kichu and school him for not "looking beyond religion and country".

Other Bollywood celebrities have also come forth and expressed their discomfort on the rape of an eight-year-old girl.
