New force in town: MMA all set to launch election campaign

Provincial president says parliamentary board will be established soon for general elections

QUETTA: The newly formed Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) has vowed to make functional their party on the ground in Balochistan and commence preparations for the next general elections.

In its first news conference in the Balochistan district office of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl on Monday, MMA Provincial President Maulana Noorullah said, “The parliamentary board will be established very soon to develop consensus for seat adjustment in the 2018 general elections.”

MMA Provincial Senior Vice President Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi, vice presidents Allama Akber Hussain Zahid, Pir Abbas Qadri, Deputy General Secretary Hidayatur Rehman Baloch, Malik Sikandar Advocate and Finance Secretary Zahid Akhter Baloch were present at the conference.

Noorullah said, “Following the precedent of central leadership of all religious political parties in Balochistan, we have joined hands with them and in the near future the general council session of MMA will be held on provincial level to set up a board for the next general elections.”

He said that the MMA had provided a platform to all religious political parties to contest the general elections, adding that the unity among all religious groups would last beyond the 2018 elections.

Muttahida Majlis Amal to come back to life

MMA’s Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi said, “Our movement to purge corruption from the country will continue.”

MMA Central General Secretary Liaquat Baloch formed the MMA provincial cabinet during his visit to Quetta.

Following the consensus among all religious groups, Noorullah was unanimously announced as the provincial president of MMA Balochistan chapter, Hashmi as SVP, Allama Zahid as VP, Qadri VP, Maulana Abdul Razza Kharani VP, Provincial General Secretary Maulana Ali Abu Turab, Deputy GS Maulana Baloch, DGS Syed Zahoor-ul-Haq Shah, DGS Malik Sikandar Advocate, Information Secretary Hafiz Ibrahim Lehri, Deputy Information Secretary Abdul Wali Shakir and Zahid Akhter Baloch will serve in MMA as the finance secretary.

MMA revived in K-P sans JUI-S

Maulana Hashmi said, “Despite rifts between the JUI-F and the Jamaat-e-Islami on the merger of Federally Administered Tribal areas with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, we are united on one platform.”

The MMA Balochistan also showed their concern over the kidnapping of Jamaat-e-Ahle Hadees Provincial Ameer Maulana Ali Abu Turab and demanded his recovery.
