Woodworkers: PFC, TEVTA to hire trainers

Training entails teaching modern trends in the furniture industry

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) and Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) will jointly hire international trainers to impart state of the art training to woodworkers along modern scientific lines. The training would be to teach modern trends in the furniture industry in a bid to excel in global markets and attract new investors and buyers. This was agreed in a meeting between PFC CEO Mian Kashif Ashfaq and TEVTA chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh held at TEVTA head office on Monday. In this regard, the PFC in collaboration with TEVTA will start a four-month short duration course to meet the increasing demand of the industry. In the first phase, 500 students will be trained and successful trainees will get a salary of at least Rs22,000 per month.
