LCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Uzma Quraishi and PFA Director General Noorul Amin Mengal inaugurated the poster, cooking competition and the model food competition, while highlighting the importance of food safety. Students from various departments participated in the competitions.
LCWU VC appreciated the efforts of the authority and its teams. “PFA is working day and night to ensure that healthy food is available in the country. The gap between government departments and educational institutions needs to be bridged through such interactions,” she added.
It is important to hold these seminars in women’s universities because women are often an integral part of families. They can train other members on food safety and hygiene, she maintained.
PFA DG talked about the efforts made by the authority to make Punjab a healthier and safer province. He also mentioned the three things that were crucial in order for any country to run smoothly and remain stable.
The first is food security, the second is economic activity and the third is food safety. The burden of infectious diseases can be overcome if we control food safety issues, he elaborated.
Furthermore, Clinical Dietician Shifa Ali also gave students tips on which type of foods can provide them with the right nutrition and how junk food can cause serious health issues later in life.
