PU holds seminar on cancer prevention

Dr Rubeena Zakar spoke on social determinants of health which lead to cancer

LAHORE: The Institute of Social and Cultural Studies at Punjab University (PU) organised an awareness seminar on “Cancer Prevention through Healthy Lifestyle” on Tuesday. Dr Rubeena Zakar spoke on social determinants of health which lead to cancer. Pakistan faces u burden of both communicable and non-communicable diseases. Cancer is increasing at an alarming rate, she said. The only way to protect ourselves is by living a healthy life, she stated. Cancer Care and Research Centre Chairperson Dr Shahreyar delivered an extensive speech on cancer prevention and spoke about breast, lung and blood cancer. He also informed the audience that the cancer care hospital was providing free mammograms to patients of breast cancer. Faculty members and students were also present at the event.
