ISLAMABAD/ PAK SECRETARIAT: Police have arrested a driver and security guard working in the office of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) for allegedly stealing seven power generators from BISP head office.

BISP management approached the Secretariat police a few days ago about the theft from their storeroom. Secretariat police told The Express Tribune that a driver and a security guard stole the 2800-watt generators from the BISP office in Pak Secretariat and sold them on to a scrap dealer in G-11 Markaz.

“Both the driver and the security guard, as well as the scrap dealer, have been arrested and five generators recovered,” a police officer said. He said the theft took place some 10 weeks ago and the BISP management initially investigated the matter on their own and later approached the police. The management lodged a case against unidentified persons but police said they interrogated the suspects and traced the case. The suspects would be produced before a magistrate for obtaining their remand for further investigation and recovery, police said.
