KARACHI:

Malaysia has won the Diamond Trade and Investment Award for being among top five investors in Pakistan during July 2006 to October 2010 with total investments of $855.7 million, says a press release.

Malaysia received the award recently at the first Diplomatic and Foreign Investment Award 2010, organised by the Diplomatic Call International magazine in Karachi to acknowledge the role of foreign investors and diplomats in economic development of Pakistan.

Malaysian Consul General Mohammed Khalid Abdul Razak said Malaysia’s investment in Pakistan in fact surpassed the $1 billion mark and in no time would reach a new high of $2 billion.

He said new investments were expected with the revival of an IT tower project in Karachi and the trillion-dollar Halal business being tapped by Pakistan with Malaysia’s assistance and know-how.
