Three policemen were martyred while another five were injured as an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted the convoy of district police officer in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday.

According to police sources, the officer's convoy was on its way back from Kolachi area when the explosives planted on the road went off.

A senior police official said the DPO was the apparent target of the terrorist attack.

On March 24, 24 people were injured after a hand grenade was hurled towards the stage of a spring festival event in DI Khan.

The incident took place in the Sikandar village where eyewitnesses confirmed that the hand grenade was thrown from behind the stage.

Last month, 80 people were arrested in the city after a mob belonging to Ahmadzai Wazir tribe, set ablaze offices of Aman Lashkar.

The crowd set offices of the group and two cars in Madina Colony on fire to protest the murder of a young man allegedly by a member of the lashkar.
