JuD chief seeks resumption of welfare activities

Lahore High Court again issues notices to federal and provincial governments on a petition filed by Hafiz Saeed

LAHORE: Justice Aminuddin Khan of Lahore High Court (LHC) again issued notices to the federal and the provincial governments on a petition filed by Jamat-u-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed. The petitioner sought orders to restrain the government from harassing his organisations and creating obstacles in their public welfare activities.

Petitioner Hafiz Saeed filed a petition through his counsel AK Dogar who told the court that JuD had long been participating in activities of public welfare, but their work was being affected due to pressure asserted by the USA and India. The counsel said it was illegal to restrain any person, individual or organisation from participating in activities related to public welfare.
