Help stamp out scourge of polio, Kalat people urged
Commissioner asks scholars, citizens and civil society to play a vital role in eradicating the disease

Kalat Commissioner Muhammad Hashim Ghilzai has urged scholars, citizens and civil society members to play their vital role in eradicating polio from the province in order to save children from being crippled.
In this regard, the Kalat commissioner chaired a meeting of the divisional task force for the polio eradication campaign at his office on Tuesday.

Kalat Additional Commissioner Major (retd) Aurangzaib Badeni, Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Mujeebur Rehman Qambrani, Lasbela Deputy Commissioner Shabir Ahmed Mengal, Mastung Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jabbar Baloch, Divisional Director Health Dr Muhammad Murad Mengal, representative of Prime Minister for Anti-Polio Campaign Dr Shafi Danish, Khuzdar District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Soomaar Khan Sasoli, Director Livestock Dr Muhammad Anwar Zehri, WHO representative Dr Muhammad Umar Mangal, Lasbela Deputy DHO Dr Basant Kumar, Mastung DHO Dr Muhammad Shuaib and others were also present during the meeting.
The commissioner was briefed on the preparation for the polio eradication campaign that will commence from April 9.
The Kalat commissioner said, “It is a pleasure that no polio case has been reported in last three years in Kalat.”

He said that polio was an enemy of our innocent children while scholars, tribal elders and media community would play their important role in eliminating the polio menace from the district.
"It is not only the government’s responsibility to get rid of polio, but it is also the responsibility of all segments of the society to cooperate with polio workers to put an end to the crippling disease," he added.
The commissioner also gave award to Deputy Director Livestock Dr Muhammad Anwar Zehri for best performance during polio campaign in the district.
