Ronchi, Shadab star as Islamabad clinch PSL3 title

KARACHI: Islamabad United clinched their second Pakistan Super League (PSL) title by beating Peshawar Zalmi by three wickets in a historic final in Karachi on Sunday.

After deciding to bat first, Zalmi managed to post a total of 148-9 in their allotted 20 overs.

All-rounder Chris Jordan finished the innings with the top score of 36 off 26 balls with the help of one four and three sixes.

For United, leg-spinner Shadab Khan was the most successful bowler as he claimed three wickets.

In reply, United had an outstanding beginning, but lost their way in the middle of the innings.

However, three sixes off three balls from young Asif Ali took JP Duminy's men over the line with more than three overs to spare.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Luke Ronchi finished the innings with top score of 52 off 26 with the help of four fours and five sixes.

For Zalmi, pacers Hasan Ali, Wahab Riaz and Jordan claimed two wickets each.
