'Gas theft harming financial base'

The cases of gas theft are taken to the court for legal actions

KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Senior General Manager Saeed Ahmed Larik has said that the theft of natural gas is a crime that harms the financial base of SSGC. He was addressing an awareness seminar at the Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam. He said that the theft accounts for 51% of the line losses, while the leakage causes 34% losses. The metering and accounting mistakes are 15%. He said that strict action is being taken against increasing trend of UFG, which include raids against criminals on regular basis. The cases of gas theft are taken to the court for legal actions. He said that the gas (theft and recovery) act of 2016 is proving to be very helpful and gas of millions of rupees is saved using it. Deputy GM (Corporate Communications) Salman A Siddiqui said that the counter gas theft operation department has been taking actions against the thieves of gas for the last few months.
