ISLAMABAD: In two, separate incidents of violence reported against children in the capital on Tuesday, a minor boy was allegedly sexually assaulted in a village near Golra.

Separately, a young girl was also abducted from a hospital in the city.

Golra police said that a three-and-a-half-year-old boy had allegedly been raped in a village within its remits.

The victim’s family told the police that the child was playing near their home when unidentified people took him to the nearby fields and allegedly assaulted him.

After the boy came back home and told his family what had happened, they immediately reported the matter to the Golra police. Officers subsequently lodged a case against unidentified assailants.

Police said a medical examination of the boy had confirmed that he had been sexually assaulted.

Golra SHO Abdur Razzaq said that the child has so far been unable to tell who or how many culprits were involved. However, he added that they have managed to apprehend two suspects in the case and were questioning them.

Razzaq added they will be collecting DNA samples from the suspects and match it with that of the suspects — a technique which had helped the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police recently to track down the alleged rapist and murderer of a four-year-old girl in Mardan.

Earlier in the month, a 12-year-old girl was also allegedly raped and killed in a slum near Sector F-11 on March 7. Police had arrested two men who had been accused of assaulting the girl.

Girl goes missing from CDA Hospital

Police have been left stumped for answers after a minor girl was allegedly kidnapped in the heart of the city in broad daylight on Tuesday.

A*, accompanied by her father, had gone to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Hospital, located in Sector G-6, on Tuesday morning for a check-up.

Her family told The Express Tribune that a man, who claimed to be a doctor, met with the girl and her father, who works as a gardener with the CDA, at the hospital.

This man apparently told the girl’s father that the number on his hospital card was incorrect and told him to go inside the hospital building and get it corrected.

The father complied but left his 12-year-old daughter behind.

When he returned, the girl was missing. After the man his family could not find the girl, they finally approached the Aabpara Police Station — located just 200 metres from the hospital.

“Cameras from the hospital show that a bearded man, who was also carrying a laptop bag, took the girl out of the hospital,” an uncle of the sixth-grader said.

“He may have lured her away by telling her that her father was outside,” he added, noting that the family comes from a poor background and lives in Golra.

Aabpara police have registered a case of kidnapping. She was later recovered near Faizabad.
