To equip the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan with latest technical education and enable them to play their due role in the ongoing China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the National Logistics Cell (NLC) has set up an Applied Technologies Institute (ATIN) in Gilgit.

The institute has been established in collaboration with the government of Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) and Force Command Northern Areas (FCNA), NLC said in a statement on Tuesday.

Classes at the institute are expected to commence shortly after work on a spacious building was completed.

The NLC added that it was in the process of hiring trained and experienced faculty members in the faculties of civil, mechanical and electrical technologies for the institute.

It added that students will be trained on modern equipment which has already been procured.

This will not be NLC’s first ATIN with the logistics cell operating similar institutes in Mandra, Dina, Amangarh and Khairpur which have contributed to the skill development of local youth, particularly those belonging to less developed areas of the country.

These institutes will be affiliated with National Training Bureau and National Vocational and Technical Training Commission where more than 50,000 students have been trained.
