‘Modern world demands quality teaching, learning’

300 delegates from Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan participated in the two-day event

BAHAWALPUR: The first international conference on teaching and learning, a joint venture by Islamia University (IU) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC), concluded today.

Around 300 delegates participated in the conference from Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan which featured seven keynote speakers and 105 experts.

Islamia University Vice Chancellor Dr Qaiser Mushtaq was the chief guest for the occasion. He stated that the modern world demanded quality teaching and learning from instructors. They have to possess a great deal of knowledge and skills in teaching and assessment practices in order to meet the demands and standards of quality education, he expressed.



IU has attained distinct achievements in every field during the recent past. This drive for academic excellence has put the university on the 11th spot on HEC’s ranking, a 40-point jump from previous years, he revealed.

Similarly, the varsity was ranked 6th in research among the 26 universities of Punjab. During the last three years, IU organised 14 international conferences while in the past the varsity hosted 33 international events, he expressed.

The university is recognised for their faculty and their students. We go all out in our efforts to develop faculty including hiring 237 professors, majority of whom possess a PhD. They have boosted our standards or education tremendously, he said.

Also establishing faculty boards for the first time in the varsity’s history have contributed immensely to upping the academic standards of the university. Academic councils and the board of studies are also meeting on a regular basis bringing fruitful results for academic wellbeing, he stated proudly.
