ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has taken notice of a picture that has gone viral over social media, directing the attorney general and all advocate generals to address the situation.

The picture shows men leading a funeral procession carrying a dead body over their shoulders having to step in sewage water.

"People are going to offer funeral prayers and they have been soiled." the CJP lamented.

During the proceeding, the chief justice inquired which city the photo was taken in. He instructed media personnel to further investigate where the picture was taken and by whom.

"This filthiness affects human health and is life threatening," he remarked.

"We will take the MNA, councilor and other officials of whatever area is depicted in the photo to task [over the unsanitary conditions]," Justice Nisar said.

Earlier, The Supreme Court (SC) issued notices on Saturday to the heads of all private companies that had received advance payment from the provincial government to execute water and sewerage-related projects in the province.
