Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja’s fiancé opens up about her decision to embrace Islam, saying there was no pressure on her in this regard.

31-year-old Usman Khawaja's 22-year-old fiancé Rachel McLellan shared that she accepted Islam with an open heart without any external pressure.

The Pakistani-born Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja and Rachel McLellan are set to get married in April. Rachel was a Catholic Christian. While giving an interview to a private Australian channel Rachel said when rumours about their love started surfacing, people criticised her for being in a relationship with a Muslim. She said that she always heard negative comments about Muslims on media that they are terrorists, but Usman ended all misunderstandings and propaganda about Muslims for her.

"Usman was the first Muslim to enter my life, initially I did not give any attention to him and always avoided him, but then we fell in love with each other and now this is turning into something substantial."

Rachel McLellan said that Usman and his family never pressurised her to accept Islam just for the sake of marriage but she knew that Usman values his religion a lot and because of that she decided on converting to Islam.

Usman said that he also faced criticism for falling in love with a non-Muslim and that his faith has always been a crucial aspect of his life and he prioritizes it.

"I told Rachel that although it’s my wish that you convert but this decision depends on you completely."

Usman Khawaja was born on December 18, 1986 in Islamabad and he proposed to Rachel in 2016.
