Boy sexually assaulted in Peshawar
The suspect was subsequently sent for a medical examination
PESHAWAR:
In another sexual assault on a child, a seven-year-old child was reported to have been sodomised in the provincial capital on Sunday. The suspect in the case has been arrested. A police official told The Express Tribune that the boy had allegedly been sexually assaulted in Urmar Payan area of the city. He added that the child was out in the streets. When he returned home crying incessantly and told his family what had transpired, the boy’s father approached the Urmar police station to lodge a complaint. The officer said that they started investigations and soon arrested the suspect. The suspect was subsequently sent for a medical examination. Talking to The Express Tribune, child right activist Imran Takkar said that despite some high profile case recently, sexual violence against children in the province was continuing unabated. He added that despite their efforts, the provincial government had failed to introduce a workable child protection system in the province. “This is not the first case and nor the last one, hence we need to understand the gravity of the situation in order to effectively counter it,” he said.
