NSA Janjua in Kabul to discuss security issues with Afghan leadership

National Security Adviser expected to meet Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah

National Security Adviser (NSA) Lt Gen (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua arrived in Kabul on Saturday on a day-long visit to Afghanistan, Radio Pakistan reported.

Janjua will hold talks with his Afghan counterpart Haneef Atmar on bilateral relations and regional security issues, as well as a host of other matters of national interest.

He is visiting Afghanistan on a special invitation from the Afghan NSA.



During his visit, Janjua will also meet Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah  and NDS chief.

"Both sides will work together and chalk out a way forward to improve bilateral relations and enhance cooperation particularly with reference to the peace initiative undertaken by the president of Afghanistan," Janjua said before leaving for the visit.



Earlier, Russia lauded Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, saying Kremlin is committed to enhanced security, defence, intelligence as well as economic cooperation with Islamabad.

The statement came from deputy secretary of the National Security Council of the Russia Federation, Mikhail Popov, who held talks with National Security Adviser (NSA) Lt General (retd) Naseer Khan Janjua.

Nasser Khan Janjua highlighted connectivity potential of Pakistan and how the whole region and the world could gain from it.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the upward trajectory of bilateral relations and expressed a strong resolve to strengthen it further.
