BJP supporter beheaded for naming Bihar town square after Modi

Victim's son says one of his brothers was also killed two years ago after putting up a picture of Modi at the square

A 70-year-old man has been allegedly beheaded in India after he named a town square "Narendra Modi chowk", claims family.

Ramchandra Yadav,  a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporter, was attacked in Bihar's Darbhanga district by nearly 40 to 50 men with hockey sticks and swords, the victim's son Tej Narayan told NDTV.

Narayan also alleged that one of his brothers was also killed two years ago after putting up a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the square.

"As a senior citizen, my father went to them to explain the situation but he was beheaded with a sword. When my elder brother intervened, there was a murderous assault on him," the son said.

Kamal Dev Yadav, brother of Narayan, is being treated at the Darbhanga Medical College Hospital.



Narayan added: "The attackers were supporters of RJD [Rashtriya Janata Dal] who abused the prime minister,"

The reason of the attack was that the assailants were upset about the "Modi square in a place that is an RJD stronghold" Narayan said and alleged  that the RJD's by-poll win on seats encouraged them to do so.
