Mahira Khan is currently in London to attend the UK Asian Film Festival. The event commenced yesterday and will go on till March 25.

The actor was presented the Contribution to Film and Activism Award at the opening ceremony last night.

Humbled as always, Mahira dedicated the award to her son, Azlan. Clad in a deconstructed Elan sari, the Raees star expressed her gratitude after receiving the award.

"Thank you. I'm going to keep it short," laughed Mahira. "Like you said, if my son is being overlooked (because of my work)? I always ask my son about what should I say? Should I thank you? And he would always respond, 'Please don't thank me.' So, I hope someone is recording this!"

The UK Asian Film Festival will be celebrating 20 years of championing independent South Asian cinema by hosting a 12-day season of film screenings and events in Edinburgh, Manchester, Leicester and London.

The starlet was also spotted at the London premiere of Aamina Sheikh, Sanam Saeed and Adnan Malik starrer, Cake, which is slated to release on March 30 in Pakistan.

The cast of the movie was present at the  film fest and posed for pictures with Mahira.

Bollywood veteran Simi Garewal, who is also an acclaimed film-maker, producer and a famous talk show host was also honoured at the film fest and shared the stage with the Humsafar actor.

Mahira's political drama, Verna, will also be screened at the event on March 16.
