SPSC recruitment : CM told to speed up approval of summary

KARACHI:

A division bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) “expects that the Sindh chief minister will pass orders on the summary of Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) employment as early as possible, preferably in one month”.

Justices Gulzar Ahmed and Shahid Anwar Bajwa were hearing a constitutional petition filed by Abdul Fatah Shaikh and 16 other petitioners, who were recommended by the SPSC as District Zakat Officers (grade 17).

They said that although, according to an SPSC press release, they were recommended on October 6, 2010, they have yet to receive appointment letters. An additional advocate general, appearing for the Sindh government, said that a summary was sent to the chief minister for approval but it has been awaiting decision for some time.

The bench ordered the clearing of the summary in one month’s time.

The same bench gave the EDO education one day to implement the court’s order, passed on March 30, 2010, to implement the service quota for the children of former employees of the department. It was hearing a petition filed by Shumaila, daughter of a Sindhi language teacher Ghulam Bashir, who died in January 2008.

The bench ordered the EDO to issue an appointment letter to Shumaila, and submit a report by 11 am on Wednesday.
