Disputed territory: Five injured in clash over land

House officer Malik confirms no arrests are made

ISLAMABAD: Five people were injured after two groups clashed over a land dispute in Bhara Kahu’s Athal village on Saturday.

A local eyewitness told The Express Tribune that the fight started after one group tried to take possession of the disputed land and both groups opened fire on one another.

A relative of the four injured who were taken to Polyclinic hospital said their rivals, Sharafat group, opened fire on them and injured Zahid Mehmood, Faaris, Arzeef, and Fida Hussain. Arzeef who received a bullet to his chest was admitted to the intensive care unit and was said to be in a critical condition, while the rest were wounded but stable.

Another man, identified as Aamir Shahzad, who belonged to the opposing ‘sharafat group’ was also injured by gunshot.

Bhara Kahu station house officer Malik confirmed that the police had made no arrests yet after the clash.
