Former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that Bahawalpur had made a statement in favor of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), adding that their support was a referendum for the ruling party in the upcoming general elections.

“Our political rivals are astonished at the number of people gathered in Bahawalpur to support the PML-N,” said the former premier.

The apex court restrained Nawaz Sharif from leading the PML-N on the grounds of his disqualification from Prime Minister’s office.

The former premier addressed a public gathering at Dring Stadium Bahawalpur accompanied by his daughter Maryam Nawaz and Federal Education Minister Mian Baligh-ur-Rehman along with other PML-N officials. Nawaz Sharif said that the crowd left the opposition senseless with such enthusiasm and spirit.

Nawaz Sharif said, “We are proud of ourselves that we have eradicated load-shedding in Pakistan.” He added that factories, tube wells are running and fertilizer being made on a subsidized rate.

The PML-N founder stated that terrorism was rooted out and inflation was effectively dealt with. Construction of farm to market roads had been undertaken for convenience of the farmer to deliver products in the markets, said the three-time Prime Minister.  Nawaz said that the six-lane motorway will be completed, which will make travelling to Lahore convenient, adding that it was a huge feat that PML-N had pulled off.

On disqualification from the Prime Minister’s office and party’s presidency, Nawaz said that he did not receive salary from his son, adding that what would have happened if he had received.  He asked the crowd about their acceptance of his disqualification and consent over their vote being disrespected by such a decision.

Nawaz Sharif said that many injustices were done over the last 70 years and Pakistan would not prosper “if we do not learn from our mistakes”. He promised that if PML-N is given another chance, youth will be provided employment, which does not have jobs despite their degrees.

Every homeless person will have their own house if PML-N romps home to victory in the 2018 general election, said Nawaz. He asked the people of Bahawalpur to commit their support and not let their vote be disrespected.

Maryam Nawaz said that Imran Khan has given up all 12 of his party’s Senators to Zardari despite accusing him until a few months ago. She inquired if such a coward could be a leader who uses Asif Zardari as his cover.

“Pakistan would have been in a worst condition if the PTI had won the elections in 2013,” said Maryam, adding that the party does not possess the capacity to prevail in perilous times. She said that after India tested its Atomic bomb, there was so much pressure on Nawaz Sharif but he did not sell his conscience for millions of dollars and prevailed by testing Pakistan’s Atomic bomb.

Maryam highlighted the case of dual nationality, regarding a PML-N MNA, adding that no one bats an eye when a person comes from Canada after every two or three months to derail the government.

Federal Education Minister Mian Baligh-ur-Rehman also addressed the public gathering.

Jaffer Khan | 6 years ago | Reply The general preception is the "system" is not being fair to him. And the obvious support by the "system" that is being shown to Mr Zardari -PPP is just repulsive.
