Bin Laden operation: US rejects Pakistani criticism of raid

US says it will not "apologise" for launching the raid to kill Bin Laden on Pakistani soil.

WASHINGTON:

The United States said Monday it would not “apologise” for launching a raid to kill Osama bin Laden on Pakistani soil, after the Islamabad government complained about US “unilateralism.”

White House spokesman Jay Carney said Washington took Pakistani complaints seriously but added: “we also do not apologise for the action that this president took.”

He said Obama was convinced that he had the “right and imperative” to mount the raid, and noted that the president said during his campaign he would act to get bin Laden in Pakistan if necessary.

Carney also said the United States was still seeking cooperation from Islamabad to gain access to three of the al Qaeda leader’s widows who are in Pakistani custody.

chebbo | 13 years ago | Reply American refusal to apologise is a proof of American jingoism and stubornness most cowboays are reluctant to accept. They think that they have all the rights to perform such operations.,they (the Americans) should be kinked out from the land of the pures.

Shamsa Qamar | 13 years ago | Reply America has taken it granted to attack any country on every kind of pretext,lies,fabrications etc.WMDS lies of Iraq,invasion,so of Afghanistan without furnishing proofs OF Osama involvement in 9/11 as requested by Mula Umars'.It did the same in case of drones and now Abootabad operations. I think world opinion should be mobilized all over the worlds especially USA,West the way USA is acting to cushion its torn economy due to torn economy; is bound to destroy the peace of world.USA,UK,West have exhausted their natural resources and now scared to be subjugated to China and other developing countries, which it wants to circumvent. Unfortunately the regional traitors and todies have let them happen for them. They should be immediately removed.

US is now concentrate its strategy on Pakistan because we have making them think after Davis or what ever this ------ name was.. Its was the Israeli thinks tanks which plannings are US following remember "Pakistan must cut to its size" so point is we are fighting without known what are our objectives in this so called War on Terrorism. We should have harmony among ourselves..these politicians are never going to do that because they are just pass by. We have to live in this Country what ever is going to happen. Allama Iqbal said it very well in these lines" Khuda ne aaj tak us qoum ki halat nahi badli, Na khud jis ko apni halat ke badalne ka" I think its time for Establishment and Army should consider to get out of this mess and say bye to US and IMF.

Logic | 13 years ago | Reply The biggest potential and history of USA is to bring destruction upon countries. They are in mood to devastate some more countries after Iraq, Afghanistan and kill some more people. There is still feeling hurt for the 9/11 attack. The revenge is still fresh in its memory. Who so ever comes their way will be punished. Poor Pakistan appears to be next on the hit list. It is not that Pakistan or Pakistanis were involved in 9/11, and it is not that Pakistan did not help USA in its fight against people whom she considered involved.Culturally they are bad friends and vicious enemy. US mood is belligerent and intolerance at its nadir. Greed for oil and resources of militarily weak countries is high on the insatiable proclivity. They are instigating Pakistan and our religious zealots are again falling in the trap. Leadership again failed to learn from history . It is now or never to quit this coalition and declare a non aligned status though sounding funny in unipolar world.

Why US is taking him seriously ---- we never took that class seriously since inception. Done is done and events of 1 May are past and history only. Look for the FUTURE where US and NATO are preparing to pull out. ISI and Pakistani Politicians should concentrate on future scenario instead of bickering on events of past.

Cameron has already told Zardari that the British are to blame for a lot of the mess in this region. Why is Zardari still expecting apologies from all and sundry. He and his govt have to resign for the following reasons: (a) Shameless corruption (b) 45% fraudlent votes bringing them in (c) Failure to manage the army and security apparatus (d) For not following supreme court orders (e) For general mismangement and ineptitude (f) For falsifying Zardari's educational records (g) For being absentee government (h) For increasing national debt for personal gain (i) For lying to the people (j) For consorting with criminals (k) The list goes on . . .
