SAHIWAL: Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the southern gate of Ghala Mandi Sunday night to protest against prolonged power outages.

Residents of Ghala Mandi, Peoples Colony, Rehmani Colony and Dispensary Road took to streets and blocked the road for more than three hours.

They burned tyres and chanted slogans against WAPDA.

Traffic on the road remained suspended all this time during the protest.

The protesters said that the Wapda preferred supplying electricity to the factories against payment of commission and had cut off power supply to residential areas for over 18 hours.
