PESHAWAR: Police on Monday claimed to have busted a gang of inter-provincial drug smugglers by arresting four smugglers.

Overall, 66 alleged lawbreakers were nabbed during the ongoing crackdown in parts of the provincial capital, officials said.

A huge quantity of narcotics was being smuggled out from the tribal areas to Punjab, but on a tip off Hayatabad police foiled the smuggling bid.

During a search, 22 kilograms of ‘high quality’ hashish was recovered.

Police have registered a case against the alleged smuggler Subhanullah, a resident of Matta Mughul Khel.

Separately, Badabher police intercepted a vehicle near Mashoo Khel Tanga and recovered 24 kilograms of hashish while arresting two alleged smugglers, Saeed Gul, a resident of Wazir Qilla, and Masud, a resident of Mohmand Agency.

Seven pistols and 41 bottles of liquor were also seized. Police have registered separate cases against the outlaws and started conducting further investigations.
