Patch-up or compromise? MQM-P factions announce joint candidates
The MQM-P lawmaker, who had been under scrutiny after Senate elections results for ‘selling’ her vote to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), had written a suicide note before the attempt.
In the note, she swore to not have taken money for her vote. “I have been subjected to baseless allegations,” she wrote. “I have no endurance for it.”
The party’s internal rift resulted in MQM-P securing only one seat at the Senate. Earlier this week MPA Faisal Sabzwari expressed fear of losing the Senate elections due to conflicts ensuing within the party.
In his briefing to media, Sabzwari had said that strife within the party will break up the vote bank and the PPP will emerge as the political beneficiary of this discord.
Sabzwari’s predictions came true as PPP swept Senate elections from Sindh on March 3.
