Cycling: Weylandt dies in Giro d’Italia crash

Belgian cyclist Wouter Weylandt died after crashing during yesterday’s third stage of the Giro d’Italia. He fell at high speed during a descent about 20 kilometre from finish.
The 26-year-old lay motionless on the roadside as paramedics tried to give artificial respiration to him. “Despite immediate aid nothing could be done,” doctor Giovanni Tredici told Italian television.
