Investigations underway as Dubai Public Prosecution delays release of Sridevi's body

Dubai Police have released the forensics report to the late star's family and the Indian Consulate representative

Sridevi’s premature demise has shocked entire nations. Pakistan too mourns her death with celebrities and fans coming forward with condolences. Nobody, yet is able to come in terms with the fact she’s no more but the bitter truth remains, the actress who was just 54, breathed her last in Dubai on the night of February 24, after suffering a major cardiac arrest.

In latest development, Dubai Police has transferred the case to Dubai Public Prosecution which will be carrying out the regular legal procedure followed in such cases.



According to Khaleej Times, husband Boney Kapoor is still awaiting approval from the Public Prosecution to release Sridevi's body. Currently, authorities say that it's very unlikely for the body to be released today.

However, latest reports from Gulf News suggest that the Dubai police has confirmed that the Bollywood icon died from accidental drowning in her bathtub, after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Khaleej Times has confirmed that the death certificate mentions her cause of death as "accidental drowning."


While some say she was alone in her room when she passed away, sources close to the family suggest that her husband Boney Kapoor was in fact very much by her side trying every way to save her when she collapsed, until the doctors declared she’s dead, reported Bollywood Life.

We can only imagine what Sridevi’s elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor who didn’t even get to meet her doting mom in the last days as she was shooting for her debut film, Dhadak, back in Mumbai.

According to sources, the Dubai Police have released the forensic report on Sridevi's death to her family and the Indian Consulate representative.

Death certificate of Sridevi has also been issued. The actress’ mortal remains are expected to arrive in Mumbai later in the evening today, reports India.com.
