Mohammad Nawaz produced an inspirational spell of left-arm spin and Shane Watson’s blistering batting hand Quetta Gladiators their first victory in the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as they beat Lahore Qalandars by nine wickets in Dubai on Saturday.

After being put into bat first, Qalandars were off to an astonishing start as they reached to 60 for the loss of one wicket inside first five overs.

Three talking points from PSL3's Multan-Peshawar opener

However, another monumental collapse saw Brendon McCullum’s men lost five wickets for just 29 runs, from which they could not recover and managed to score just 119 for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

McCullum finished the innings with the top score of 30 off 18 with the help of three fours and two sixes.

For Gladiators, Nawaz was the show stopper as he claimed the most economical figures in the PSL history and finished with figures of two for four in his four overs.

PSL will unearth more stars for Pakistan: Arthur

Chasing 120 was never going to be a tough task for a strong looking Gladiators batting lineup, and so it proved to be as they got over the line in 14th over.

Watson was the star of the show, as he finished with 66 off just 42 balls with the help of five fours and five sixes.

For his outstanding bowling performance, Nawaz was awarded man of the match.
