Global experts attend Gastro Summit 2018

Gastroenterology wards are being established in teaching hospitals across Punjab

LAHORE: The 34th International Conference titled Gastro Summit 2018 was inaugurated in Lahore on Friday.

Organised by the Pakistan Society of Gastroenterology (PSG), experts from Pakistan and across the world are participating and delivering lectures on diseases concerning the liver and the stomach.

The chief guest for the occasion was former principal of Allama Medical College Prof Dr Sibatul Hasnain. He congratulated the organisers on the conference, adding that such conferences will help in controlling diseases and in providing the best possible treatment.

In the changing era of medicine, it is vital for our doctors to remain updated, he expressed.

Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Patron in Chief Prof Dr Ghias un Nabi Tayyab said that separate gastroenterology wards are being established in teaching hospitals across Punjab. The provincial is providing all possible medical facilities to the people as directed by Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He added that gastric diseases are spreading but the people are unaware of it. Timely diagnosis and immediate treatment can save many lives, he stated.

Organizer of the Conference Dr Israrul Haque Toor said the mission of PSG is to maximise research and awareness activities.

President of Gastro Summit 2018 Prof Massod Siddiq also spoke at the inauguration and welcomed the particpants.

Medical experts from USA, UK, Canada and Turkey attended the inaugural session hailing it as a good omen for the future of Pakistani doctors.

Research work from across the globe will be discussed at the conference. It will conclude on Sunday.
