Property issues: Woman moves court against son, grandson

LAHORE:

A woman has moved court against her son and grandson, who allegedly assaulted her and threatened to kill her for her refusal to transfer her house to them.

Rashida Bibi, 52, filed a petition in Additional District and Sessions Judge Zubair Shehzad Kiani’s court seeking directions to the SHO concerned to register a case against her sons Anwar and Yameen.

The judge disposed of the petition and directed the complainant to approach the SHO, who would record her statement and proceed in accordance with the law.

Rashida told the court that at 9 am on May 2, she was with her sick daughter-in-law at home when her son Yameen and grandson Anwar abused her and threatened to kill her if she didn’t transfer the property to them.

She said that armed men known to Yameen and Anwar entered the house and pointed guns at her demanding she transfer the property. She said that they beat her and tore her clothes. She told the court that she then went to the SHO to file a complaint, but he did not entertain her.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Rashida said that her son and grandson had also planned to poison her food but one of the people around them informed her about the plan. In tears, she said that her son and grandson had beaten her several times before for refusing to transfer her property to them, but this was the first time she had sought police help.
