Model cattle market on the cards in Multan

Market will be established on a whopping 43 acres of land

MULTAN: The Punjab government has approved the PC-1 for the biggest model cattle market of South Punjab.

This was said by Multan Division Commissioner Bilal Ahmad Butt while speaking to journalists at his office on Wednesday.

He said the planning and development department approved Multan Model Cattle Market at Mauza Jungle Jaswant Singh Samorana Bypass Link Road. The market would be established on a vast area of 43 acres of land and the cost of project would be Rs1.19 billion.

The commissioner added the cattle market would be set up five days a week, while all facilities, including mosque and bank would be available in the premises of the market.

He maintained that 44 sheds, including nine for small animals and 35 for big ones would be constructed in the market.

Bilal Butt pointed out that the construction on the project would commence by erecting boundary walls from next month. He said that the biggest capital market of South Punjab would be completed during the time span of 18 months.

Meanwhile, the citizens of Multan and adjoining areas appreciated the efforts of the district government for getting approval of the biggest cattle market of South Punjab. The cattle owners were happy on the approval of permanent cattle market.

Muhammad Riaz, a cattle owner, told The Express Tribune, “We appreciate the efforts of the commissioner for establishment of biggest cattle market in the city.”

Ali Muhammad, another cattle owner said, “We have been facing a lot of difficulties at the temporary cattle market. The roads and infrastructure is in a shambles and traffic remains blocked due to the congested space at Shujaabad Road.”
