Also opens inquiries against 15 others

The National Accountability Bureau’s Executive Board in a meeting on Monday approved multiple inquires including former state minister for Kashmir affairs and northern areas senator Abdul Raziq and the incumbent Balochistan Assembly Speaker Raheela Magsi.

The board approved the initiation of some 17 inquiries and four investigations in different cases of corruption, corrupt practices, and misuse of authority. The meeting which was presided over by NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal also approved filing of corruption references in two other cases.

The board decided to file corruption reference against former KDA Director General Syed Nasir Abbas and others for changing status of public welfare plots into commercial land.

Investigations against former president of Pakistan Science Foundation Islamabad Dr Manzoor Hussain Soomro was also approved for his alleged misuse of authority and funds on national and international tours causing millions of rupees loss to national kitty.

The meeting also approved to initiate inquiries against officials of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council and Vice-Chancellor Dr Akram Chaudhry for making over illegal appointments in their respective departments, while another inquiry would also be initiated against CDA employees for selling out an amenity plot in Islamabad’s Sector G-6 at a throwaway price.

The board also approved inquiry against officials of Privatisation Commission of Pakistan for violating PPRA rules in the privatisation of American Fertilizer Ltd, and Daudkhail Mianwali which brought loss of around Rs 3.8 billion to the national exchequer.


It was also approved to initiate investigation into the alleged malpractices by the administration of NEPRA, ministry of water and power, IPPS, Mesrs Blue Star Hydel Pvt Ltd, Mesrs Bukhsh Solars Pvt Ltd, Mesrs Saif Solars Pvt Ltd, Mesrs Lucky Electric Power Company Ltd, Mesrs Sadqaa Sons Energy Ltd. The companies violated solar power plants tariff due to which the national kitty had to bear loss of over 200 billion rupees.

The board also approved inquiry against former Senator Abdul Raziq and FIA Inspector Adnan Lohani and Chief Executive Malik Exchange Private Ltd Kamran Khan for abusing their power, taking bribe and money laundering. Executive Board meeting also approved investigation against Talat Mehmood, Nouman Nawaz, Ijaz Ahmed, Raja Kamran and others who allegedly involved in corruption worth 3.14 million rupees.

Inquiry has also been ordered against owner of Al Khair Housing Society. The board also ordered inquiry into mega corruption in ‘Land Utilisation Department Sindh’ which caused loss to the national exchequer.

The board approved investigation against former Sindh Building Control Authority director general Manzoor Qadir and others for changing the status of public welfare plots into commercial land which resulted in the loss of Rs 500 million to national kitty.

The meeting also ordered inquiry against Muhammad Mohsin and Rahila Magsi as the State Bank of Pakistan had sent the case to NAB under D-31 for suspicious transactions. The board approved corruption investigation against Arif Ali Shah Bukhari, KASB Noor Developers Pvt Ltd former Director/former administration BIPL and Structured Venture Pvt Ltd who caused Rs 375 million loss to national exchequer.

The board also ordered inquiry against former Chairman SPSC Muhammad Hassan Bhutto and others for illegal appointments.

Apart from them the board also approved investigations against top officials of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan for irregularity in students’ funds which caused loss to national kitty. The board also approved investigations against administration of Jinnah Medical College Peshawar for irregularity.

Executive Board meeting also approved investigation against former Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan vice chancellor, Peshawar customs collectorate , Bank of Khyber Peshawar officials, Killa Abdullah District Council Chairman, former Quetta Development Authority chairman and Anti-Corruption Punjab director general for abusing their powers, irregularities and corruption which caused loss of millions rupees to national exchequer.
