Residents caught and killed a robber after he murdered a shopkeeper in a bid to rob him on Wednesday night.

The relatives of shopkeeper Zahid Gadi held a sit-in at Hali Road. They took Zahid’s body with them and shouted slogans against the district police.

Gadi owned at least three grocery and medical stores in the Latifabad Unit VII market.

He was shot in his chest and his younger brother, Faik Gadi, was shot in the leg when they tried to resist a robbery.

The robbers tried to flee but residents managed to apprehend one of them, identified as Sufian Burni from Karachi. His accomplice escaped. The people beat Burni up badly and then shot him.

Meanwhile, the markets in Latifabad Unit VII and Hali Road remained closed in protest against the killing until Thursday afternoon when the deceased was laid to rest.
