Last week, reports surfaced that the main accused in Asma Rani murder case, Mujahidullah Afridi has fled to Saudi Arabia, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police approaching Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to bring him back through the Interpol.
Mujahid Afridi and his accomplice Sadiqullah shot the woman dead on Saturday after she reportedly turned down a marriage proposal by the former. Rani, a third year MBBS student in Ayub Medical College, had named Afridi as her killer in a statement before her death.
“Mujahid had an Umrah visa in advance and he left for Saudi Arabia the very same day after committing the crime,” DPO Kohat told The Express Tribune.
Rani was on vacation in her hometown Kohat when the incident happened, Kohat Development Authority police station SHO Gul Janan said.
When she and her sister-in-law reached home, Mujahid, accompanied by his brother opened fire at her as she got out of a rickshaw and fled the crime scene, the police official said. She was shot thrice and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died on Sunday, SHO Janan said.
