Curbing gas theft: Two suspects arrested in Karachi

SSGC conducts raids in FB Area, Mehmoodabad

KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) tightened the rope against gas thieves by cutting down various illegal connections in Karachi. The Security Services and Control Gas Theft Operations (SS and CGTO) team in coordination with company's CRD, FIR Cell and the SSGC police raided neighbourhoods in Federal B Area and Mahmoodabad in an ongoing crackdown against gas theft. The teams disconnected the illegal direct supply of gas and saved millions of rupees.

SS and CGTO conducted a raid on an industrial corrugation factory in FB Area where the culprits were using direct gas by tampering with the meter. The factory owner, Zahid Aziz, was arrested and an FIR was registered.

In another raid at a bakery in Mahmoodabad, a customer was found using gas directly through a rubber pipe. The gas supply was disconnected and the bakery owner, Babar Khan, was arrested.
