Military meeting: Commanders to craft response to pressure

Top military officials holding meetings about Bin Laden killing fallout, Pasha to brief commanders on details.

ISLAMABAD:

The military top brass is holding intense consultations within its own ranks as well as with some important civilian personalities to craft a response to outside pressure resulting from Osama bin Laden’s killing in a US operation.

Top military officials have been holding marathon meetings in the GHQ discussing the situation. A meeting of corps commanders is also likely to take place in a day or two to deliberate on the event’s fallout.

Lt-Gen Shuja Pasha, the ISI chief, would brief the commanders on the details of the incident and his interaction with the US officials.

Pasha had visited the US a few days before the Abbotabad operation where he had held important meetings with top officials.

It is learnt that Army Chief General Parvez Kayani is regularly holding meetings not only with his military officials including heads of intelligence agencies but also with some civilian foreign policy experts these days.

As living alibi of the 09/11 incident placed before a court in NY he would be a great obstacle to the lies of the neocons and their worldwide allies. Dead and buried only through acts of confusion the issue will eventaully whither away. These meetings and various statements coming from GHQ and Pak Secretariate should be shunned since the damage is not reversible. The US administration acted in connivance of our present Character that we developed since the 80s! We followed a path of self-centered bigotry by making mockery of our religion and burying the values of our forefathers. Why lament when we cannot pull our heads out of the sandbox. We should now find the child with the candle to show us the path that would lead us in the right direction!

It appears to be hitherto undisplayed Stealth technology according to the highly credible and widely respected magazine Aviation Week. The Chinese would love such a toy!!

Why should we waste billions of rupees in taxes on an Army that could'net either detect Osama, neither were they able to detect US forces entering our territory. Pakistan Army has to hold consultation for what? Simple. Too cook up a story, if they had to come out with the truth, it would have been swift and simple. Our corrupt politicians must completely bring Pakistan Army and ISI under their foot, else our Army will destroy Pakistan, they'll just sell it at half the price a politican will sell this country at.

Either way they are screwed, because now people will say we are baying you billions of dollars yearly to protect us and 2 helicopter travel 3 hours in to the country with 40 people and conduct an operation for 2 hours near your academy and you have no idea. The man was the most wanted man for the past 10 years, and these guys didn't even make a spectacle of it like they did for Saddam. The US is constantly changing its statement about how he died, some say he was armed others say he didn't resist. The guy was ill, they could have well taken him alive easily even if they had fears of him becoming a hero, but look at what happened with Saddam, nobody cares now. The military and agencies top brass is absolutely silent. Trade talks with India will resume as normal. China is the only one to support Pakistan in this, especially after the recent statements by Gillani saying to Karzai forget the US and join up with China. Quite confusing this whole incident.

We would like to know who these civilian foreign policy experts are and what are their credentials? Whatever has happened in Pakistan so far is a direct result of wrong intelligence input that needs to be thoroughly re-examined. Chief of Army Staff needs to form a panel of those international experts on the panels of global think tanks who are known for their integrity and who make unbiased observations on global issues. Pakistan is not confronted with a national issue it is going through a crisis that is global in nature. A very careful analysis of the opinions of local experts appearing on television and writing for local Urdu and English newspapers clearly indicates lack of their comprehension of the link between the external influences and internal social, economic, political, diplomatic and military developments. Our experts are trying to hide every logical observation under the carpet of conspiracy theories. This approach will lead us no where. Pakistan's armed forces need to have an extremely prepared critical review of different perspectives even if they are against them for the time being. They can turn the tables only when they are presented with an analysis of realities on ground instead of hiding them behind conspiracy theories.

We have been hearing all the times that our defence is impregnable and no one can cast an evil eye but this has proven a hollow slogan. We are really ashamed of our leadership and ........ What a shame. Atleast we should have not allowed them to return scot free. Are they supposed to cry and weep behind walls and bang their heads? Or are they to fulfull their responsibility and make sure nothing like this happens again? I guess, if they are to go bythe choice number two, then yes, our military is doing the right thing by consulting all stake holders. Do not forget, its our military which has sacrificed more than 6000 soldiers in this war. From three star Generals to ordinary soldiers have died. They are in the front line. Let them do what they believe is best as it is thier speciality. Intellegence failures have occured in other countries too but you do not invite tailors to treat patients with Malaria. THey know what the failures are and how to fix them. However, if they were to act on the emotional read outs of this blog, for sure, they all would resign and invite Indian Chief to protect Pakistan.

Had we taken proper measures at that time, we could have saved ourselves from adventures like kargil, war on terror etc. The mastermind of failed kargil attempt is still on the run, and enjoying his life outside pakistan. LeT and its role and support from ISI. What`s the future foreign policy & support for terror groups? What happened on the night of US Raid? Extension of COAS and DG ISI proves priority of their vested interests than country's. Dont you think the Americans will not only destroy your jets but also stop Aid and supply of Military parts which will make the F-16s redundant. As an Indian I support this. Cutting off the nose to spite the face.
