SC deadline to arrest Rao Anwar ends today

IGP Sindh has sought help from intelligence agencies for providing their assistance in nabbing Anwar

The deadline given by the Supreme Court to IGP Sindh for arresting former SSP Rao Anwar has ended today and the culprit is still on the loose, Express News reported.

Anwar is wanted for the extra-judicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud in a staged encounter.

IGP Sindh had even written a letter to intelligence agencies for providing their assistance in nabbing Anwar apart from ordering police raids in various parts of Islamabad, Peshawar and interior Sindh.

On Saturday, Anwar failed to appear before the court where Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar was hearing the suo moto case pertaining to the death of Naqeebullah. He ordered IGP Sindh to arrest the culprit within three days.

A few days earlier, Anwar’s attempted escape to Dubai was foiled by security forces who offloaded him from the plane but failed to arrest him.

According to reports, Anwar is being supported by influential personalities who are creating a hindrance in his arrest.

Subsequently, in one instance Anwar threatened that he will expose everyone if he gets arrested.

The joint investigation team concluded that Naqeebullah was killed in a staged encounter apart from stating that Anwar conducted 745 encounters in 7 years in which 444 people were killed.
