Bin Laden’s family in military hospitals: Witnesses

Family members were brought to the hospital after they were injured during the operation at Bin Laden's residence.

Some women and children, said to be the family members of al Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden, are admitted at the Combined Military Hospitals in Rawalpindi and Abbottabad, reliable sources told The Express Tribune.

They were brought to the hospitals by security officials after they were injured during the operation at Bin Laden’s residence in Abbottabad, the source said requesting anonymity.

“They are being treated in the isolation ward under extraordinary security arrangements,” the source said, adding that no visitor is allowed to meet them except for a few security officials, who visited them twice yesterday.

Further details could not be ascertained as doctors treating the women and children are not permitted to interact with an outsider.

A security official told The Express Tribune that US forces had left the injured people after completing the midnight operation. One of the women was found in critical condition when Pakistani security personnel entered the compound.

She was shot by an automatic weapon, the official said, adding that she was initially taken to CMH Abbottabad, but shifted to CMH Rawalpindi on the advice of some physicians.

Doctors and nurses treating the patients have strictly been forbidden to speak to these people, who have been declared by the hospital administration as VVIP patients.

The security official did not say whether he also found a body from the compound. However, he said that further details about the injured or dead were highly confidential.

Few bodies were also brought to the CMH Abbottabad, but it cannot be told whether they were recovered from the same residence, the official said.

Would you need his body in your living room? Seriously. Witnesses were present, his wife was shot during the raid. Al Qaeda made a statement Bin Laden was killed in 5/1/11 raid. And why you think US doesn't have the right to kill an Al Qaeda member (the leader!) when we are at WAR with Al Qaeda, yes war, is beyond me. Obama promised to capture OR KILL Bin Laden before he was elected president..and there was zero grumbling about that! Some people are just terrorist sympathizers. Don't forget this was not revenge, we (the US) are at war with Al Qaeda. It is an ongoing war and Al Qaeda members will continue to be killed by US army. The unfortunate think about war...the goal is to disable or eliminate the enemy. And good going Navy Seals, the world needed to be rid of a man whose goal was killing innocent people, because he hated Americans, like Hitler hated Jews.

I have been an Army wife for 21 years and the people in our military are some of the finest people in the country and in the world. I live at West Point - home of the United States Military Academy. I interact daily with men and women of character and honor, who live and die to protect the freedoms many of you freely enjoy and take for granted. No one here relishes death or killing, but we recognize the fact that sometimes it is necessary to ensure peace and protect the lives of others. When the youthful celebration of our cadets came knocking at the door of the Superintendent of the Academy, General Huntoon shared some of the most greatest wisdom I have heard come out of this. He said, "We should be gathered tonight not to celebrate the death of someone, but to celebrate the lives of our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines." While Osama deserved what he had coming to him, when we allow ourselves to take joy in the shedding of blood, we have entered dangerous territory.

Julia Afaghi Simmons | 13 years ago | Reply This execution in Pakistan is one of the most disgusting stories, among hundreds of disgusting stories, of USA murdering unarmed people without being sure who they are or caring in any civilized way about their treatment. Puts me iin mind of how they treated the Japanese civilians after Nuclear bombing Hiroshima and Nagasake. Why the USA spends all this money in Pakistan and Afghanistan when the border of Mexico is one big death bin and the USA is full of crime and huge jails and prisons is just utterly incomprehensible. Why can't Pakistan and Afghanistan solve their own problems; execute the criminals that live there themselves and USA take care of things over here. People are getting disgusted with this and I'll tell you something else: until I see absolute proof they killed Osama Bin Laden inthat compound; I'll be convinced they just killed the 3 men or maybe others that we see in photographs published online recently. The weird secrecy and lack of evidence is very telling and you know in the future eventually the truth will come out a little more.

Anoop | 13 years ago | Reply This must be heartbreaking to all the people who had suggested the operation was a fake! The Women and Children must be watched by the World community. You never know when the ISI will get rid of them to make sure they dont testify against them!!
