‘Justice for Naqeebullah’: Long march reaches Peshawar

PESHAWAR:
The long march movement calling for ‘Justice for Naqeeb’ reached Peshawar on Monday and would leave for Islamabad today (Tuesday).

A sit-in was staged at Hayatabad Phase-III Chowk where hundreds of people including elders, students, civil society and political parties demanded immediate arrest and death sentence of SSP Rao Anwar and recovery of missing people belonging to Mehsud tribe. They also urged administration to cleanse South Waziristan from IEDs.

The elders of Mehsud tribe strongly condemned the extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud in Karachi and said that SSP Rao Anwar was involved in killing of Pakhtuns in fake encounters.

Addressing the participants Pakhtunkhwa Olasi Tehreek leader Dr Said Alam Mehsud said that the march would leave for Islamabad today (Tuesday) and would join the other participants there.

He said that march from Karachi would also reach on Tuesday and “our sit-in will continue in Islamabad until Anwar is arrested and punished.”

The march started from South Waziristan and they left Dera Ismail Khan on January 26 for Peshawar.

Mehsud tribal elders also spoke on this occasion and strongly condemned the killing of innocent tribal people and demanded justice for Naqeeb.
