KARACHI: After much debate the Federal Relief Committee and the Department of Archaeology have reached an understanding on the reconstruction of Boulton Market which was being called a heritage site.

Rafique Jadoon, member of the Traders Body of Boulton Market, said the department has agreed to allow the construction of four buildings in the area. The buildings, he said, will be ready before Ramazan (early August) so that shop owners can set up their businesses. The deadline for completion of construction is 31st July.

According to Jadoon, construction on Marvi Market I, Marvi Market II and New Marvi Market has begun and construction is under way on other affected buildings. Seventeen damaged markets are to be reconstructed in total, he said.
