CNG, electricity prices rise across the country

CNG prices to go up by Rs1.5/kg and electricity prices by one rupee per unit.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) raised the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) by Rs1.2/kg across the country, while the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) also increased the electricity prices by one rupee per unit under the fuel adjustment formula.

According to a notification issued by Ogra, the new CNG prices will be implemented from May 5.

The gas will now be available for Rs59.57/kg in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Potohar region including Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, in provinces of Sindh and Punjab, CNG prices have risen to Rs56.80/kg.

Nepra allowed the supplying companies to increase the electricity prices from March.

The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) was also allowed to increase the electricity prices by Rs0.53 per unit.

This increase will be imposed on both the domestic and commercial consumers from May.
